Autoflower strains, said plainly

A different clock. Autos flower by age, not by the season. Why the house catalogue is photoperiod — and what the word actually means.

Autoflower strains, said plainly — Scouse Genetics

Autoflower means the plant does not wait for the nights to get longer. The clock is age. A few weeks after it wakes, it flowers, whatever the light schedule is doing. That trait comes from Cannabis ruderalis — short-season plants from high latitudes that had to finish before the frost, not before October on Merseyside.

A photoperiod plant reads the season. Short days, it flowers. An auto does not ask. That is the whole difference. It is not ‘weaker weed’. It is not feminized. Feminized is a sex format (XX × XX). Autoflower is a flowering format (age, not photoperiod). A pack can be both, one, or neither.

What autos are for

Speed. A smaller plant. A room that never wants to flip the lights. Outdoor in a short summer where a photoperiod would still be stretching when the rain starts. Those are real uses. They are not the house method.

The cost is the other half of the sentence. Less time to hunt structure. Less room to repair a mistake. A ruderalis clock in the pedigree. Some of the loudest terp work we care about — Durban’s anise, Orange Gas’s fuel, the pastry on French Cake — was locked on photoperiod keepers we could veg, score, and run again.

What we pack today

This catalogue is photoperiod. Regular keepers: 16 seeds £100. Female packs: SG Kush, French Cake, Dutch Apple Pie and Watermelon Slushy — 6 female seeds £50. Collabs: 16 regular £100. Ruff Genetics Jamaica: 16 regular £100 when germ tests pass. There is no autoflower pack on the shop today. If that changes, it will be a listed product with a clock on the page, not a word stuck on a photoperiod for the search traffic.

If you want female and photoperiod, that is the 6-seed list. If you want males and females and a season, that is the 16-seed list. If you want an auto, you are in the wrong catalogue until we say otherwise.

Do not mix the labels

Auto is not feminized. Feminized is not auto. Regular is not ‘old and slow’ — it is both sexes on a photoperiod clock. Read the pack. The product page says female or regular. None of the live strains say auto.
