The bench
Scouse Genetics is a small Liverpool house. We do not rush a pack because the pedigree looks expensive. We keep the generation labels that are actually recorded in the archive: Durban Poison BX2, Orange Apricot BX1, Strawberry Truffle BX1, Jammy Dodgers F1, Lemon Dodgers F1 and Apricot Punch F1. Black Punch is a separate Di Frutti × Tropicanna Punch selection whose generation is not formally recorded, so we do not invent one.
How a pack is made

The right mother, the right father. Cuts we have actually run — not a forum name. If we do not know a parent, we do not make the cross.

Pollen goes on a plant we trust. An F1 is the first generation — loud, vigorous, still a spread. We pack one when that vigour is the point. We backcross when we want it locked.

A keeper is a numbers game with a notebook. We pop far more than we will ever sell from. Most of the room gets composted.

Vigour, internodal spacing, stem-rub, structure, aroma, effect, bag appeal. A pretty flower that herms under a heat spike is not a mother.

Soil and coco. Indoors and under poly. At least two UK seasons before anything is called an outdoor. If it only works in a Dutch room, we say so.

Backcross or line-breed until the pack does the same thing twice. Bx1 pulls a parent forward. Bx2 tightens it. Scatter is not a feature.

Every run is tested before it leaves Liverpool. Fresh seed germinates. Warehouse leftovers from Spain are why people think banks are a lottery.

Limited runs on purpose. If a strain is not ready, it does not ship. That includes the Jamaica collab.
Backcross
A backcross is a return to a parent. Durban Poison BX2 is the worked example we can show cleanly from the current notes. Orange Apricot and Strawberry Truffle carry BX1 designations in the archive, but their exact recurrent-parent sequence still needs the original bench record, so this page says that plainly instead of drawing a pedigree we cannot prove.

Both carry BX1 designations in the Scouse archive. Their recorded immediate parent pairs are Orange Juice × Apricot Helix and Di Frutti × Di Frutti respectively. The exact recurrent-parent sequence is not yet written into the surviving bench notes, so we keep the designation but do not invent the missing step.

Longer notes on the bench: regular seed, Bx1 / Bx2, how we phenohunt. Ruff Genetics’ island lines — Lambs Bread, Jah Orange Tree, Strawberry Mousse — and the Scouse × Ruff crosses Island Punch and Gas Tree are still in test. Packing when germ and expression are honest, not when a campaign calendar says so.
Selection pressure
Dutch and Spanish catalogues select for rooms and long Octobers. We select against a Merseyside autumn: salt air, wet September, short light. Outdoor “excellent” means it finished in a bad year. Greenhouse is a different badge. Indoor-only means we have watched it rot and we will not pretend otherwise.
Horticultural notes on this site are for collectors and licensed growers. Seeds are sold as souvenirs. Germinating cannabis is illegal in the UK without a Home Office licence.
